People should follow the customs and traditions when people start to live in a new country. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In modern society, as a consequence of globalization, a growing number of people are inclined to travel overseas or come to reside in a new country. However, it is argued that newcomers should adapt to local customs and traditions of their new community. I completely advocate this idea.

Foreigners will encounter uncertainties when they fail to conform to the norms of social behavior in the host country. First and foremost, the chances are slim to them to integrate fully into the society. For instance, an entrepreneur who comes to live in a new country and starts up a business should have a deeper understanding about local business practices and culture, which in turn enable him or her to gain confidence of customers. Another difficulty expatriates may face is that they might fall foul of the law if they do not respect the locals way of life. There are also many merits for foreigners when they adopt the customs and traditions of their country of residence. Another benefit is that when expatriates grow accustomed to the local culture, they are more likely to participant in community life and avoid social isolation. In conclusion, I strongly believe that it is essential for newcomers to adapt to the traditions and habitats of their new country in order to blend into the new environment.
