Some people feel that manufacturers and supermarkets have the responsibility to reduce the amount of packaging of goods. Others argue that customers should avoid buying goods with a lot of packing. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

In today’s society, there have been debates and controversies over whether fabricators and retailers or consumers should bear the responsibility to reduce the use of excessive packaging. This essay would provide insights into these two points of view before outlining the reasons why I deem that it is the responsibility of both fabricators and consumers to resolve this problem.

On the one hand, the reasons why manufacturers and supermarkets should have a duty to limit the amount of goods packaging can be ascribed to a key factor. Suppliers have the capability to change due to the fact that they are the main producers. In contrast, clients themselves have no choice in packaging since the package designs and practices are predefined by manufacturers and supermarkets. A case in point is breakfast cereal boxes in the market. To be specific, most packets of cereal are often wasteful and ineffective since the amount of cereal filled is often less than the package but customers still have to purchase since they can’t change the way of packaging. However, manufacturers have the scope to alter the packaging method by using a more optimized folding cartoon. Also, by making changes in the fabrication process, the amount of packaging of goods is reduced significantly and effectively.

On the other hand, consumers also have the responsibility to boycott oversized packaged products. Firstly, from the wide range of products, customers are given the freedom of choice so they can eliminate excessively packaged goods. For instance, they can decide to purchase goods with proper package design or prioritize bringing their own reusable bags to buy from open markets with package-free merchandise. Secondly, nowadays, rather than simply consuming, purchasers have an enormous influence on the market to the point of impacting what kinds of products will be produced. Therefore, if the consumer market stock up on appropriately packaged products, producers and retailers will have to change the way they pack goods to retain clients. As a result, the issue of over-packaging will be tackled.

In conclusion, I assert that both fabricators and stores have the duty to eliminate products with unneeded space.
