Please review and grade my IELTS writing task 2

Topic:
Modern food preparation and packing technology have allowed the creation of ready-to-eat meals. These have become extremely popular and supermarket aisles have been filled with this type of food. As such, people do not need to learn to cook anymore. To what extent do you agree with this?

My essay:

Instant food has become increasingly popular and this product has been in stock at every supermarket. Due to its convenience, gaining knowledge about preparing meals is considered unnecessary. Personally, I completely disagree with such views.

Firstly, acquiring skills in cooking makes life more enjoyable. This is because ready-to-eat meals have the same flavor but not everyone tastes are the same, therefore, learning to cook is needed to produce meals that fit different tastes. For instance, immensely renowned brands like Mc Donald’s and KFC have several affiliates which use the same recipes for their productions. Customers may find these recipes unsuitable to their appetite, consequently, having bad effects on their mood. Therefore, learning to make food is definitely a huge advantage.

Secondly, home-made meals balance a healthy diet. There’s no guarantee of the safety of prepared meals made by technologies. As these foods are manufactured inside factories, consumers are clueless about what kind of ingredients are included. Therefore, relying on instant food can have several disastrous effects on the human body, especially the digestive system. For example, nearly all canned food contains a small amount of preservatives which are harmful to human organs. Constantly using these prepared meals will eventually result in critical illnesses such as botulism and heart diseases. Hence, learning recipes is essential to avoid such illnesses.

To sum up, despite the growing popularity of instant foods, I believe it’s essential to learn cooking skills. Gaining cooking experience not only helps life become meaningful but it also keeps people in good shape.
