Please review and give feedback with my IELTS task 2 writing

Topic: The money spent on space research has brought enormous benefits to mankind, but it could be more usefully applied. How far do you agree?

My essay:
It is believed that human civilization has received enormous positive effects from expensive projects about space exploration. On the contrary, others hold the belief that money invested in this research could result in earthly problems. Personally, I would not agree with investing in these explorations.
First, the funding in extraterrestrial expeditions could solve the food crisis in large part of the world’s population. For instance, recent research reported that money invested in a single lunar journey could deal with the famine in several African nations for one year. Thus, millions of people are dying in starvation as their government cannot solve the food scarcity, while developed countries are spending large amounts of money on space studies.

Another reason that I could not support exploration of outer space is the amount of time to find a place for settlement in the far future. To be specific, searching for a habitable planet is pointless because people around the world are trying to restore the climate condition on Earth. For example, generating energy from clean sources has received enormous amounts of support from the community; furthermore, the money spent to clean resources is much lower than that spent on space expeditions. Therefore, extreme weather conditions that have been troubling around the globe could have been avoided, and the atmosphere would have less toxic fumes that are harmful to mankind.

In conclusion, although advanced technologies of space exploration have been enormously beneficial for humankind, I strongly believe that world societies should prioritize the issues that still remain on the planet Earth
