Designed by one of foremost creator of intriguing architectural compositions, Daniel Libeskind (b.1946), the extension is his first finished building in the U.S. Opened to the public in October 2006 at a total cost of over 62 million dollars, the extension houses some of the world's finest modern and contemporary art collections, including the collection of architecture and design and Oceanic art.
