Please Rephrase this sentence?
Hi! everyone, I want to know,in which more or in better ways I can imply the meaning of this sentence?
This sentence is about a leader who for his brutal vested interests(you can say killing of a particular tribe) convinces peoples to hate Love.
-:He was the leader who gained his vested interests under false pretenses about love to make peoples hate love.
And my second try-:
He was the leader who hand knitted many false stories about love to make peoples hate love.
Could you tell me the better ways of saying this sentence?,I will be very glad if you help me.

I'm sorry, I really don't understand what you mean about making people hate love. I would understand if you said that the leader, for his own reasons, spread false stories about another tribe to make his people hate the other tribe. But I don't understand what it means to hate love, or why the leader would want his people to hate love.
