Topic: Everyone should become vegetarian because they do not need to eat meat to have a healthy diet. Do you agree or disagree?
It is true that many people prefer a vegetarian diet to an ordinary diet because of its great benefits. However, I believe that not everyone should stop eating meat so as to have a good health.
On the one hand, there are a variety of advantages when people become vegetarian. Firstly, recent scientific studies are gradually confirming the health benefits of meat-free eating. These researches show that plant-based eating is recognized as not only nutritionally sufficient but also as a way to reduce the risk for many chronic diseases such as heart diseases, diabetes and obesity. Further, plant food provides human body all nutritional needs. Raw spinach, for example, which is an extremely nutrient-rich vegetable packs high amounts of carotenoids, vitamin C, vitamin K, iron and calcium. Eating spinach may reduce oxidative stress, help prevent cancer and reduce blood pressure levels. Thus, instead of eating many kinds of food to get these vitamins, we only need a bowl of spinach.
On the other hand, there are some disadvantages to take into consideration before becoming a vegetarian. Perhaps the principal one is that if the daily meals of vegetarians are not prepared properly, they will suffer from a lack of calories to reach their energy needs. As a result, they might feel lethargic and unable to do anything energetic. Additionally, people who exclude animal-based products usually lead to some health downsides. For instance, vegetarian diets are definitely lower in choline which is a nutrient that’s important for brain health. It’s only found in meat and poultry, and the body can’t make all that human needs.
In conclusion, although a vegetarian diet can be considered healthy, it is not for everyone and requires a careful choice of food and meal preparation.
