Whether or not to ban advertising is becoming increasingly controversial. This essay will discuss both sides of the issue in depth.

There are a growing number or people who believe that ads should be maintained because it's advantageous. They have reason to believe that adverts is needed as it keeps customers informed of the latest products, services etc. This enable clients to compare goods and find out high-qualified products with reasonable price. Everything from cheap powders to expensive services are now on TV. What's more, manufacturers can promote their merchandise through mass media like TV, radio, the net, newspaper,... This makes producers can acess their consumers easily; therefore, they fast boost their sales and create more employments. Furthermore, once people experience lots of brands, there is an increase in competition among companies, producers improve their products quality by all means. In addition, advertising eliminates monopoly. For instance, you don't watch any ads, the salesperson sells you one brand of toothpaste and you use it all the time. People have good reason to believe that all adverts should not be stopped.

In contrast to people who wish to maintain ads are those who believe that it has plenty of drawbacks. Firstly, adverts may be disturbing and intrusive. In particular, commercials on TV interrupt a movie, a news report,... that definitely annoy viewers. Likewise SMS messages on mobile phone distract users from work or learning. Billboards on the roads also hinder vision, which leads to drivers and pedestrians' accidents. Secondly, advertising misleads users. It optimizes benefits of goods, manufacturers provide inadequate information about their products. Thus, people are tempted to buy things that they don't need or can not afford. Moreover, colorful ads creates bad behaviors among viewers, especially children, once they see the intriguing adverts, they insist on buying goods. For these reasons, there are a number of users who claim ads should be banned.

Should advertising be removed from mass media? This essay discussed the various reasons why ads is benificial and why it's disruptive. Adverts are pervasive, and sometimes annoying but it's not a good idea to prohibit them. Instead, there should be strict regulations on ads and be wise consumers!
