It is important to know about events happening around the world, even if it is unlikely that they will affect your daily life.

Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

Is being aware of world's events and occurrences actually worthwhile? What if it would not make any difference ,even in the slightest, in our daily routine and everyday life? I contend that it has no significance and use for us to spend time on matters that ,in fact, have nothing to do with us and simply cannot change or improve our current ,or future, state of life.

To begin with, I myself used to allot some of my free time to learning about some local news that were happening on some other side of globe which, from a pragmatic point of view, had no practicality and brought me no benefit at all. I remember when I heard about a mass suicide in India which committed by farmers that were in dire economical circumstances. When I first heard it, it deeply affected me, and I suddenly felt maybe I could do something about these sad and bitter incidents if I endeavor to raise awareness about what is going on in other parts of the world, in this case India. I tried very hard to make these unfortunate events known, but it soon turned out that there were not as many people interested as I previously assumed. I squandered my time and failed in one of my courses just to realize that only one friend of mine really cares about these tragic kind of incidents. I then thought maybe it was better to ignore the news in the first place rather witnessing its unusefulness or even the harm it brings to us to a certain degree.

What can I infer from the above explanations and one example I provided about my own experience? I think maybe we should focus our attention on matters that are somehow close at hand. At the time I was spending time on finding the causes of that tragic mass suicide, maybe it was more pragmatic and useful to write an academic paper about the event instead.
