Being a celebrity - such as famous film star or sports personality - brings problems as well as benefits.
Do you think that being a celebrity brings more benefits or more problems?

Famous personalities, for instance, reputable athletes or motion picture superstars, apart from their countless privileges, like wealth, are surrounded with many disadvantages as well, such as privacy intrusion. In my opinion, the advantages of being a well-known person outweigh its detriments.

On the one hand, the first thing that could be of inconvenience to you as a quite popular person is the effortless recognition that you have to handle even in your daily routine. No one likes to be constantly identified and disturbed by yet another big fan and asked for autographs or pictures all the time let alone being accosted by yellow journalists or stalked by paparazzi. The second drawback, is your so-called responsibility to have a proper image of yourself or you have to face probable rejection of your audience. People usually believe that their beloved celebrity is a model citizen and it is not a good idea to disappoint them, not even in the slightest. Lastly, toward the end of your seemingly bright career, you should be accustomed to being gradually forsaken and overlooked as time passes and you grow older.

On the other hand, as a prominent artist, author or sportsperson, you are definitely able to collect tremendous sums of money, which, in fact, is the most significant aspect of being reputable. Another benefit, is the respect and perhaps the reverence that you are treated with when you are in attendance. In addition to those, your name will be remembered and you will become a part of the history.

With all that said, I think, being a star could appear at first glance somewhat vexing, but when you take those enormous privileges into account, it is quite obvious that the positive aspects outweigh the negative ones.
