In the past people liked to store knowledge in books. However, in the present, we prefer to store knowledge on the internet. Do you think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

Before the invention of computers and subsequently the Internet ,the only method for preserving knowledge was to write on paper.However ,in more recent days ,the tendency to record information on an electronic medium is becoming more and more popular.There are defects along with merits that I will mention in the following paragraphs ,and state why the latter outbalance the former from my standpoint.

To begin with drawbacks ,the first difficulty with maintaining data on the Internet is its dependence on electrical power.There are times when the electricity have gone off and you are not able to merely use your computer let alone having access to the Internet ,and the same could be true about the connection itself.The second downside is the somewhat complicated procedure of utilizing computers ,especially for the aged.The elderly often find it hard to adapt themselves to electronic devices as they usually have accessibility problems ,such as poor eyesight.Lastly ,the most disadvantageous aspect of storing information on the Internet is security.There are many instances of cyber attacks each year ,which could potentially place online libraries in jeopardy.

On the upside , swiftness and ease of accessibility are the most beneficial dimensions of storing data on the Internet.Online archives are almost always available to authorized users and they provide tremendous amounts of information with the possibility of search through them rapidly.Secondly ,by using the Internet as a means of storage ,we could save plenty of room instead of wasting colossal amounts of space for keeping books and conserving printed materials.Nowadays ,millions of pages can be stored on a hard disk drive sized almost as a pocket book ,not to mention about the Internet itself.Finally ,the Internet is eco-friendly :the number of trees need to be felled for manufacturing paper ,mainly used for books , have been dramatically decreased as E-books became more widespread.

In conclusion , I believe that the strengths of the Internet in storing knowledge ,far exceeds its shortcomings.Redundancy , inconvenience and security are issues that could be overwhelmed ,whereas ,if you use ,for instance recycled paper ,you still produce products that occupy too much space and are relatively slow in terms of storage.
