Maggie Experience
For centuries society has always had a negative view of homosexuality and the main reason why is because of religion. In the Foundations of the earth written by Randall Kenan, a women begins to question her religious views and society. Kenan's story talks about life of old southern black women who's views are suddenly changed . I don't believe in Kenan's story he's making a implied claim about homosexuality and religion. I believe that Kenan is trying to show a conflict and how a person choose to respond to that conflict.
The foundations of the earth is about elderly southern black women name Maggie MacGowan Williams. Her grandson Edward who she care for and loved greatly has recently died. She finds out from his half sister Clarissa that's he's been in interracial romance for years. This shocks her, because her christian upbringing made view homosexual is an abomination. She meets her grandson lover Gabriel and is reluctant to meet him. Later on the story her views change about homosexual and she begins to develop a friendship with Gabriel. Her experiences with Gabriel, changes her views on community and religion.
In foundations of the earth the main antagonist is Reverend Hezekiah Barden. He's large and self centered religious figure in Maggie community. He has a strict interception of the bible and likes to put viewpoint on other people. He was greatly brothel by the fact that a local farmer name Morton was farming on a Sunday. From this fact, you can take it that he would disapprove of homosexuality. Maggie doesn't challenges the Reverend behavior and also quivers from his signs of affections towards her.
Most christian churches believe that homosexuality is a sin. When I was growing up, my family didn't discuss anything about homosexuals. It wasn't until I was ten years old when I meet a real life homosexual. He was a student in my classmate and when meet him I know something was different about him. He was very feminine and like to hangout with the other female classmates. He was a Catholic and open about being a homosexual, it would take me years to notice this. I believe that he didn't have a conflict with being a homosexual and his religion, because I heard talk about his church experience. I guess to him his religion and sexuality don't have to be in a struggle.
Gabriel is a gay white male and was Edward lover. He is polite and funny and wants to have a relationship with Maggie. Gabriel doesn't go to church that often and doesn't have a firm view on religion. He didn't see anything wrong with Mr. Henry working on the Sabbath. Gabriel is openly gay and thinks his lifestyle is perfectly normal. Gabriel in the story supports the author claim that "".
Henrietta Fuchee is an elderly black woman and is member of Maggie church. She likes to pretend to be principal Christian women in front of people, especially Reverend Barden. In addition, she probably views homosexuals as unholy. She has a desire for Barden and will probably support his views about homosexuals.
Maggie leases some of her land to a man name Morton Henry. The author doesn't say wither he's a religious man or not. He works on the Sabbath because he must. His wife is ill and he has five kids to support and feed.

Hi Ivan,

Please make changes to the words I marked with yellow highlight.

If you can't figure out what is wrong, please ask.
It takes a lot of time and I don't want to mark the same problems all over again.

All the best!

For anyone who is taking this as an example know that in the second paragraph where I have quoted it should say homosexual or even homosexual interracial romance. Always write as if the reader has not read the story themselves.
