Essay & Composition Writing

Please read my essay, I tried my best to improve my skills these days, hope you will read and give me feedback, thank you so much!

Studies suggest that many teenagers these days prefer socialising online to meeting one another in person.

Why do you think this is the case?

What measures could be taken to encourage teenagers to spend more time meeting one another in person?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

My essay:

There are many surveys showing that teenagers nowadays would rather socialise online than meet people in person. This has been a hot issue these days and lots of arguments have been given to debate about the causes and measures of this problem.

Due to the convenience of social networks' quick connection, teenagers are likely to think that it takes less time to communicate with others through the Internet, which is incredibly easier while it requires more time and energy to travel to meet in person. Besides, students now seem to be afraid of direct communication because they lack the chance to be well-educated about social skills. Loads of homework given to them after school prevents them from going outside to contact their friends in real life because they do not have enough time. What is more, there are many other things which interest teenagers more than meeting up with real people, such as: video games, social media, movies, etc.

One of the measures that can encourage teenagers to spend more time communicating directly is making them go outside, attend outdoor activities, and take part in team-work activities so that they can have more face-to-face communication. For example, they can go out for a meal with their families or friends, participate in volunteer work, and get a part-time job. Furthermore, teenagers need to be restricted from using social networks in daily life. Parents and teachers should give them useful advice or limit the time they spend on suffering the Internet to not let them become addicted. Another suggested solution is that schools can open courses about socialisation in order that students can acknowledge their status.

Overall, teenagers preferring online socialising to meeting one another in person is totally not a good circumstance for both themselves and society. More measures should be proposed to improve this current situation for the future of teenagers.
