Moreover, the Americans consume the same amount of sodium in breakfast and snacks, with 14%. In terms of saturated fat, the proportion in breakfast is 5% lower than in snacks.
Regarding added sugar, this type of nutrients is most consumed in snacks, with about 42%. The second highest percentage is seen in dinner, followed by lunch, which takes up 19% in the pie chart. Additionally, only 16% of added sugars is eaten in breakfast.
