They consume fast food, such as burgers and pizzas regularly which have saturated fat and sugar. This food is difficult to digest and thus increases their weight. Another reason for higher weight is not doing any physical activity. Regular exercise or playing sports can play a significant role in reducing their weight. According to a survey, for example, most secondary school students of the UK watch TV daily. Their average weight has decreased by 1 kilogram due to playing soccer in schools.
There are two possible solutions of this problem. First, schools should include lessons of physical activities in their curriculum. In this way, students will be forced to play sports that will keep them fit and active. Another way of tackling this issue is that parents should restrict their children from consuming junk food and encourage them to include healthy food in their dietary habits. Including green vegetables and fresh fruits in their diet will provide essential nutrients that will balance their weight too. In most schools of New Zealand, for instance, it is compulsory for students not to eat junk food and play rugby or hockey during weekdays. Thus, these children remain physically active and their parents do not complain of rising weight.
In conclusion, watching TV is not the main reason of obesity in children. I take the view that not playing sports and consuming junk food are the main causes of obesity. Including sports in their course of studies and green vegetables and fruits in their diet can solve this problem effectively.
