The first paragraph of “Japan-Dream” made me laugh and it reminded me of my mother. She used to tell me when I was little to always pinch my nose and pull it to make it longer and thinner.
After reading the whole chapter, I had a mixed feeling about Andrew’s story. I was upset because he was stupid by doing this bike adventure. But I also felt sorry for him for all the chaos he had encountered.
The life of Thong and Anh reminded me of my life in Cambodia. We had a difficult life ever since my father left us. My mother used to do laundry for other people, so she can support her three younger children. We eat three times a day, but the food was not enough to suffice our hunger. In the story, Anh carried ten gallons of water from the village to her house. I also experienced this kind of life.
