Please proof read this essay for a basic scholarship?

It has to be below 300 words, describing our fincial situation as children and how that inspired us to be what we want to be. (Career wise) I incorperated another inspriartion for my career choice. Please be detailed in what I should change.


Growing up my parents only had a high school diploma, so they never had high paying jobs. They struggled with money so badly to the point things in my house would get shut off due to no payments. It seemed like money problems would get worse with time. We never got to go on family trips together. Growing up that way inspired me to want to make something of myself. My whole life I knew my future career would involve helping people. I have decide to pursue becoming a child and family social worker. One of my main influences for wanting to become a social worker is my brother-in-law Jordan. Jordan grew up with adis-functional family. His dad was a drug abuser and his mom had her problems too. Jordan grew up with severe asthma because of being around all the drugs and smoke. He didn't know any better so he started using drugs himself at the age of 13. I feel as if a social worker were to come into his life and help his family, and help put everything back together and to get them help with their addictions, he might have still been alive today. Jordan passed away due to a severe asthma attack. If only someone could have saved him and his family when it was all fresh. That's why I am going to be a social worker, so I can help save a family and someones childhood.
