Please point out the errors.

Since 14th August 1947, every day our nation wake with a sound of melodic prayer calls coming from the minarets, every day our nation prostrate in front of God to pray for the well-being of this country, every day our nation reads the couplets of the Holy Quran to our children, and every day our nation hope for a much better tomorrow.


What i am not sure about in this paragraph is where the word 'nation' takes a singular verb , i mean s with the verb and where it takes plural.?
