I think that the novel “The Tears of Autumn” by Yoshiko Uchida is a great one. The plot of this novel is deeply affected by many different settings during its whole lenght. "The Tears of Autumn" deals with a young woman who left Japan and went to America looking for freedom and to marry a man.

As I said above, to change the setting also means to change the characters' mood, feelings and thoughts. The most significant settings in this novel are her stay on the ship, in Japan, in America, and the '70s period. In my opinion, without these settings, the plot wouldn't be as good as it is.

In the '70s there was almost no freedom in Japan and that's why the young woman decided to move from Japan to America. The ship is the most exciting vehicle, due to/because of (here you can choose either) its ability to make you both cry and laugh by simply smelling the ocean or hearing the wind blowing. This is exactly how the young woman felt on her way to America. She worried over her family but she was happy about her soon marriage as well.

The reason why I am writing this essay is because I really would like to attend the University of Georgia. I am the person who always thinls about her future, that is why I tried to make my best in high school, earning good grades and learning as much as I can to be well prepared for college. It's good that you took the time to comment on this. However, this essay was written and posted here years ago. I doubt the writer will read what you wrote.

Have you considered that this essay was most likely written by someone whose native language is not English? Are you good at writing essays in a foreign language?

It's good to be honest when you evaluate an essay. However, you can make your points in a positive way that helps the writer. Or you can say negative things that discourage the writer. If someone evaluated one of your essays, which approach would you like them to chose?
