Please phrase correctly

How would you phrase this please?

When backing out of a parking spot, use the blinker of the side you turn your steering wheel in. If you turn left, use your left blinker, if right, your right blinker.

Hunh. It never occurred to me to use my turn signals backing out. It makes perfect sense, though.
