Please need help on exercise directions

Hi Teachers,
Could you tell me which one is the best? What worries me are the prepositions. I guess is 'c'. Can 'b' be possible too?
a) Circle the letter for the correct synonym or definition of the underlined word.
b) Circle the letter of the correct synonym or definition of the underlined word.
c) Circle the letter of the correct synonym or definition for the underlined word.

I would have thought that by now, one of the many responses given would have suited you. Apparently not.

Thank you so much for your reply. Now I've got another possibility. I'll have to decide which one I'm going to use, though I must say that yours is very appropriate for intermediate levels, without a doubt.
