Hi,

Please tell me what grammatical part the following underlined parts are.

There is Super Man, up in the air.

I see a house, near a school.

I see a house, far from a school.

These are adverbial phrases of location-- they answer the question, 'Where are Superman and the house?' You have to learn English in order to form sentences like those.

Granted that those are adverbial phrases, but why do they have to be written like that -- including being set off with commas as they have?

Why not like this?

There is Superman, flying up in the air.

I see a house, located near a school.

I see a house, which is located far from a school.

Those are OK too-- but they're not necessarily truncated. If they were, they could be:

There is Superman, hovering up in the air.
I see a house, built near a school.
I see a house, although I am far from a school.

As they stand--

There is Superman, up in the air.
I see a house near a school.
I see a house far fr
