Some people think young people should follow the traditions of their society. Others think that they should be free to behave as individuals. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

More and more contemporary attention has been placed on whether or not people should follow traditional customs. While many would argue that the benefits of obeying traditions are tremendous,I am of the opinion that people should liberally behave themselves as individuals.

On the one hand, there are certain advantages when abiding by traditional customs . First, it can help people uphold the long-standing identity of their nations. Vietnamese ladies, for example, frequently wear Ao Dai at important occasions such as Tet because it represents luck and happiness. Following this ancient tradition, many women in Vietnam often wear this costume as an embodiment of national pride. Second, obeying the age-old traditions can help people broaden their horizon about customs of the past and generate opportunities to learn from former generations. In fact, each country has different traditional customs and if people do not follow any of their nations’ conventions, they can feel isolated and gradually lose chances to absorb their cultural quintessence.

On the other hand, some people nowadays are inclined to behave freely as individuals. A reasonable explanation for this is mainly because some old customs are not appropriate for today. For instance, the concept of valuing men above women no longer exists and almost no one follows this ancient custom; today, males and females all have equal rights and can live freely without any restrictions compared to the past. Furthermore, many people enjoy living individual lives and only obey some selective customs that are suitable to their mindset and lifestyle, which is quite normal today and no one can compel them to do things that they do not want.

In conclusion, while there are many agreements and disagreements to the given problem, I firmly believe that people should be allowed to act whether they should follow traditions or not.
