Some people believe that schools should only teach children subjects which are beneficial to their future career and therefore other subjects such as music and sports are not important. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Some people hold the belief that schoolchildren should only be taught subjects that are useful for their career path; hence, it is unnecessary for them to focus on other sub-subjects due to their unhelpfulness. I completely disagree with this idea because there are many favorable outcomes that subsidiary subjects can provide.

The argument in favor of students should only be taught and pay attention to some crucial subjects such as Math, Literature, and English would be that they believe these can offer children bright futures and generate lots of income after graduating from school. However, I consider it to be a very short-sighted view; in fact, if children do not learn enough subjects in their school, they cannot have a well-rounded development. Admittedly, some students nowadays spend too much time learning major subjects and have a mindset that sub-subjects are superfluous; therefore, these schoolchildren are gradually losing chances to expose fully invaluable knowledge of other subjects.

There are various reasons why students need to study all subjects in their curriculums, be it major or minor. First, sub-subjects can help pupils broaden their horizons and have an in-depth understanding of many aspects of life that they cannot learn from primary subjects. For example, the Civic Education subject teaches children about many important life skills, helping them become good people and avoid violating the law; therefore, it is very essential for the comprehensive growth of children. Second, some subjects such as Physical Education and Art can help school pupils relieve their stress and let off some steam after a long day at work, then students can recharge energy and become more enthusiastic to learn principal subjects.

In conclusion, it is my firm belief that all subjects learned in schools play a crucial role in the academic life of students and people should not get rid of these subjects or consider them as unimportant.
