Please look at my letter of motivation

Dear reader

I would like to write a letter of motivation for an internship abroad. Since English is not my mother tongue, I would be very pleased, if somebody could correct it. The letter of motivation is not intended for a particular company.

Best regards

Letter of Motivation

Dear Sir or Madam

I am a 3th year psychological student at the university of Zurich. In June 2009, I am going to finish my bachelor degree. For afterwards, I am looking for an interesting and challenging internship, because I would like to gain more work experience and apply the skills I gained in university. In my major I acquired basic psychological knowledge as well as statistical and methodological skills. Additionally, I have funded business economics knowledge since I studied it as a minor.

An internship abroad is especially interesting, because it would gave me the opportunity to broaden my horizon and to practice my language skills. Three years ago, I was in a language school in New Zealand for nine months where I acquired very good English skills. At the end of this stay I passed the Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English. Beside that, I had there the opportunity to gain cross-cultural competence in a multicultural environment. I am convinced, that these are excellent prerequisites for an internship abroad.

In an internship and various student jobs I could already gain some work experience and at university I learned to be organized, self-disciplined and to work together with other students in teams. My style of work is conscientious, goal-oriented, responsible and I am able to motivate myself.

I am keen to be challenged and to learn new things and I am open-minded for new impressions and new people.

Thank you for considering this application.

Yours faithfully

Hi, Here's my overall reaction. That's exactly how your letter sounds, and exactly what is wrong with it. If I'm the manager or director who opens and reads this, here's what I think.
