Please let me know if this sentence is grammatically correct

"As a teacher, I’d have to make a point to make the most of time that the students have in class toward real communications."

Thank you for your suggestion. I had a hard time wording the original sentence. I was trying to say that "As a teacher, I want to make sure that I make the best use of the time that the students have toward real communication". So, I came up with several versions, but nothing really sounded right to me. I like your suggestion much better, so I'll use it. Thanks again for your help.
