Pal: Did you like that girl? Me: Yes, I did. Pal: Did you not like that girl? Me: Yes, I did. Pal: You liked that girl, did not you? Me: Yes, I did. Pal: You did not like that girl, did you? Me: Yes, I did.
The last two instances are quite uncertain for me. I am not sure whether I should take "did" or "didn't" into consideration for me to answer yes or no. I have just learnt that we need to say "yes" if we disagree, "no" if we agree when the question has negative word like "didn't", "haven't" and "wasn't". Please clear my confused mind, thanks.
