The line chart compares the proportion of Australian foreign sales to 4 countries including Japan, the US, China, and India over a 12-year period starting from 1990.

Overall, the graph can be divided into 2-time intervals: first, 1990-2000 and second, 2000-2012. In the first period, Japan accounted for the largest percentage of Australian exports, with the US being second, China third and India Fourth. However, in the last time interval, the order of ranks changed, with China being the greatest, followed by Japan, China, and India respectively.

Between 1990 and 2000, the curve for India was mostly flat (roughly 2%). It then increased gradually and hit its peak at 7% in 2010 before dipping to 5% in 2012. As for China, starting out at 3% in 1990, the percentage then rose linearly to 5% in 2000. From that point, the growth accelerated by a factor of five, ending at 27% in 2012, nearly sixfold higher than that of India.

The percentage for the US first stood at 11 % in 1990. Subsequently, there was a modest decrease, before it gradually recovered its initial value in 2000. From 2000 to 2010, there began a downward trend, declining to its lowest point at 5% in 2010, ending at 7% in 2012. Although Japan initially quintupled India and tripled the US, its curve then fell steadily and ended at 12% in 2012.
