Please! I need quick help

I bought a car two days ago. And Suppose, someone asks me for a ride saying,'it's so hot here to walk around. Can I say,' I know how it feels to walk around; I have been walking around. Or can I say,'I know how it feels to walk around here in the sun; I was walking around here. Which one is correct? Should I use present perfect continouous tense or past? Please help.

"I was walking myself until recently."

Repeating the "walking around" part sounds unnatural.

I know what it's like to have to walk in the hot sun. I was walking around myself until recently.
