PLEASE I NEED ALL YOUR HELP FOR THIS

Hi!

I have a tremendous doubt with all the thing about possession with the apostrophe.

some websites say that we can use ('s) for animated nouns ( person, animal ), and we must use (of) for inanimated nouns. In others websites say we can use the ('s) with everything?, so, what is the truth?

e.g:

tracy's house (we can use it because tracy is a person)

color's day (we can not use it because color is an inanimated thing) we must use " day of the color "

my question came to my mind because one friend asked me if " colors' day party " was ok

  • Instead of a long reply, let me just say that the 'apostophe ess' is often used for something that seems like it is a part of something.
