Dear Members of the Search Committee:
If you are looking for a woman who challenges the statu quo, goes beyond what she is asked to do and is driven for the new especially in Physics, let’s talk!
Young determined woman, Master’s degree in matter-radiation physics, project planner at Ericsson and a talented mathematics teacher. I can be all what I want to be, but mostly I want Physics!
My strong background in matter-radiation interaction is what makes me a perfect fit for the PhD position in the Ion Physics Group of your department, I have been top 10% in my promotion in laboratory techniques in nuclear physics and matter-radiation interaction, I have scored 87,7% in my Master’s thesis work which was the highest score given, also got an overall score equivalent to an A in my two years of Master’s degree. My internship was about the study of Ultra High Energy Cosmic Rays, I contributed with the Algerian team on data analysis using the JEM-EUSO offline C++ platform, the project as well as the physics behind was extremely exciting to me, I investigated every single research done before and I wrote an exceptional state of the art which made my thesis a reference in the subject, I have reached all the targets my supervisor and I have set in a very short period of time. I learned from my internship to work under pressure and manage my time efficiently as I was teaching mathematics to high school students parallel to my thesis work.
I have strong interests into materials physics and its applications, I want to apply my knowledge in matter-radiation interaction and I see in this PhD project a perfect fit. I am confident about my high ability to use my scientific and logical thinking to optimize, improve and innovate, for instance my manager in Ericsson recommended me to participate in the solution preparation, description and presentation with the solutions team, I did, I worked day and night to add my value to the project and to cooperate effectively with my team, and at the end of the project I received a great feedback.
I would like the opportunity to meet with you to further discuss your needs and how my interests and competences may help the ion physics group successfully carry out the project. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Manel Ouafi
