I am writing to apply for the Master's program of ** at the ** University 2018/19 winter semester, starting in early October 2018. The degree from one of the prestigious and top Ranking School like *** is my opportunity to make a substantial progress in my career and thus contribute to the Nigeria gro-processing Sector and the food Industry at Large.

Grant me the pleasure of a humble introduction as **; the fourth child in a family of nine. I speak; ** &English fluently with little of French basics. I hold a bachelor of Engineering Degree in Food Technology, from Federal University of Technology ***; a vibrant young personality from an Agrarian clime of ***, with witting desire to solving the problem of post “Harvest losses due to glut” through processing and preservation.

Professionally, I was privilege to undertake undergraduate research project of National interest “utilization” of high Quality Cassava Flour/ Wheat Flour (HQCF/WF) Composite in bread manufacture. To further my career, the MPE will be the best medium to making it a reality. Having been trained from foremost research and regulatory agencies in **; Federal Institute of Industrial Research ** and National Agency for Food and Drug Administration ***, with several conferences it’s only wise to progress in my chosen career academically noticing the Knowledge gap in a space of 5year.

I currently work at *** as pioneer production Manager. And progressively improving my skills through continual learning, with exquisite certification from Enterprise Development Center from the famous ***Business School - courtesy of BIG-GEM World Bank sponsored grant under the Federal Ministry of Trade and Investment which I am a privileged representative of my company, as beneficiary of 1000 successful firm out of 70,000 applicants. Resulting to great performance in business competitions that has attracted funding to the company which includes but not limited to; top 50 out of 300 in a pull of 3300 applicants, – thus the reason for the company approval/support towards the MPE program.

Right from my childhood, I have longed to process egg into powder as a kid I don’t think of any hobby other than this “food manipulation was my hobby” until I establish a plant that does this I will keep searching even though the technology is in place I still desire improvement on it.

*** is one of the 3rd world countries entrenched in so many Developmental challenges as a developing nation- among which is human capital development. Due to high population, facilities are insufficient for the needed Technical -Know-How especially in the underfunded educational sector. So, it becomes a necessity to seek for self actualization in order to pursue collective National Development. On these notes my heart pangs for foreign technological transfer with this program.

Also, *** being a developing nation operates a mono economy; since the discovery of oil within the creeks - her economy that was agriculturally driven in the early 60s was diverted, but the federal government discovering that; over 70% of her populace engaged in agricultural produce, has made tremendous effort to revive the sector. And currently 60 to 80% of her produce are lost due to seasonal glut as a result of lack of adequate processing, preservation and safe storage and adequate operational-legislative policy to ensure Food security.

However, the food industries is the largest employer of labor in the country after the oil and transport sector, yet the demand for processed, safe and quality food produce are never met. This has invited so many untrained personnel into the industry- increasing the rate of unsafe consumables in the market. The highly crop dominated country “**” is faced with the problem of value addition to her farm produce as few institutions offer Degrees in food profession not to talk of advanced Degrees, so this makes it paramount for patriots to seek for knowledge beyond and return with it to join the developmental drive for the nation - this inspired me to pursue degree in Food Technology. Though these has served as an eye opener to food surplus potential of ** but with what I gathered from undergraduate project research, only favorable economic policy couple with adequate human resources control, which include professional training such as the MPE can expedite the nations development process – it is on this premise I seek for this degree.

Applying for these masters at Offenburg is motivated by two factors; Cost and Relevance, I have been given places of study in food engineering at;*** University and *** University on different occasions but cost has been a barrier. Talking of Relevance having being in the field as the head of production in my company, I see trending areas of consumer interest and deepening my understanding in the field is inevitable as I desire to teach my generation the “Act of Food Manipulation”

Considering *** was never an option for me due to language barriers but seeing *** advert on Face book ; checking the department of Process Engineering and seeing a Research interest in “Food Technology” and Biotechnology as a options, then I knew is time to give up everything and file application.
