PLEASE HELP WITH POSSESSIVE AND PROPER NAMES !!!!

MY DAUGHTER'S NAME IS ALEXIS. WHEN A PROPER NAME ENDS IN AN "S" HOW DO YOU WRITE IT WHEN YOU WANT TO SHOW POSSESSION.

IF I WANTED TO SAY : THIS IS ALEXIS'S PARTY. WOULD THAT BE CORRECT OR DO I JUST PUT AN APOSTROPHY AFTER THE " S ".

That "rule" is far from universal, and in fact, one that I do not follow.

I would write "Alexis's" and "James's" every single time. You're welcome to pick a style and stick with it, but don't tell people there is only one rule for it when both Ja
