Topic: Some people think that good health is a basic human need, so medical services should not be run by profit-making companies. Do you think the advantages of private health care outweigh the disadvantages?

People hold contradicting views over whether healthcare services should not be operated by profit-making corporations as they belong to the right of all citizens. While I concur that there are some drawbacks, I would argue that these are outweighed by the benefits of this issue.

On the one hand, the main shortcoming is that private healthcare services limit patients’ access to some medical services. It is a common sense that most companies conduct their business with the sole aim of making profits. If companies providing healthcare practices are no exception, they have an inclination to charge medical services higher than public health care. One of the most obvious examples is that some patients diagnosed with cancer fail to receive treatment from high-tech healthcare resources in private hospitals simply because of their lack of money paid for expensive services. Instead, they are treated in public hospitals which commonly swarm with patients.

On the other hand, I believe that the disadvantages are overshadowed by its advantages in the sense that private health care run by companies make a valuable contribution to the availability of a variety of medical services. In general, corporations have a generous budget which is invested in healthcare facilities and researches into new treatment. For instance, Vinmec, run by a large private corporation, offers excellent healthcare services and expert medical practitioners. They have succeeded in curing various life-threatening diseases and saved a lot of lives.

In conclusion, it seems to me that the disadvantages of private healthcare services are eclipsed by its advantages.
