Describe one critical event in your life that greatly disappointed you. In your explanation, include the reason for the disappointment, how you coped with or dealt with the matter at that time, and how this experience has affected your life since then. You may also explain how you feel this experience will likely affect your future. One of the biggest disappointments in my life was when i have graduated from my high school, and intended to go to University right after it. My initial plan was after graduation i intent to apply to one of the best Universities In XX. I have been preparing for entrance examination for 2 years simultaneously being active in my high school and maintaining good grades. The entrance examination requires intensive studying there main subjects, and i have dedicated all my time for preparation for these subjects. One day, 3 months prior to entrance exams my dad has announced that he was awarded with fellowship in US for a year and all of us could go with him. My parents have decided that it would be both good for all of us to come along. However, they have given me an option to choose to take a gap year after high school and live abroad or pass the examination and continue with University back home. Now going back to that i had faced a huge dilemma at that time and had to make decision which would impact my future greatly. I have started weighing the pros and cons of staying. One thing I was worried about living away from my family for a year, and missing out a great opportunity living abroad as it was one of my dreams. However, another things was all my intensive preparation would be meaningless. At the end i have chosen to take a gap year, and give up my diligent preparation of two years in one day which was a huge disappointment. I have felt that all the hard work i have done was useless and served no meaning. Neverthless, i have immersed myself with the new culture and environment right after the graduation which helped me to cope with my disappointment. Morwover, this opportunity helped me to understand what I really wanted to study, and ultimately made my college experience much better later on. Having a little extra time to figure things out, I was much better prepared to make decisions about what I wanted to study and how that would prepare me for my career. Moreover, my one year experience abroad served me as a great learning lessons for my entire life, and has showed me a different perspective for life. Now, i believe that disappointments, challenges we face always leads us to greater things in our life, and this life lessons made me braver person who takes risks and tries new things in life more openly.
