Please help with an essay
Hello everyone, please help me with essay about my hobby - ants.
I know it's no excuse but I'm not native in English, so don't be scared by basic mistakes.
Topic of the essay is 'something that engaged my curiosity'.

My beloved pet measures less than one centimeter and is beautifully dark brown. Although it spends main part of its day in a hectic, seemingly illogical search for food, its movements are precise and well-founded.
My passion for ants began when I read ‘The Journey to the Ants’, a captivating book written by two famous myrmecologists, who quickly became my idols: Bert Hölldobler and Edward O. Wilson. Owing to the reading, I gained new viewpoint on the tiny hard-working insects that build complicated societies and I discovered their exciting microworld.
Soon afterwards, I learnt about ants from other sources and, to my surprise, I even found a few ant-addicts who not only knew everything about the insects, but also reared them! That was exactly what I was looking for – unlimited access to observation and research. Finally, a few months later, my home zoo extended by ten new inhabitants of species Lasius niger and the colony soon increased to nearly one hundred ants.
Since then, the ants have stolen many of my evening hours initially devoted to studying. They were my inspiration to state questions and to seek the answers. No wonder, for the topic of my research work sample for the National Biology Olympiad I chose ants’ capacity of seeing various types of light.
Although ants have been an important part of my life for some time now, every time I look at them I realize that my own journey to the ants has only begun.
