Please help to review my Ielts writing task II

Question: Environmental protection is the responsibility of politicians, not individuals, as individuals can do little. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Answer:

Environmental protection is one of the most concerns of governments. I disagree with the view that only government should be responsible for variety of environment problems. From my point of view, Individuals also play vital role in environmental protection.

There is no denying that politicians can have a lot of actions to protect the environment. Firstly, they could introduce laws to limit gas emission from factories or force companies using renewable energy as a result the process of global warming would be slower. Secondly, governments would fine companies who pollute rivers and oceans. For example, the Formosa incident in Vietnam causes Ocean polluted seriously and mass dead fish phenomenon. The company had to compensate 500 million US dollars. Finally, Authorities would increase taxes on private transportation to encourage people using public transportation instead of private car therefore it reduces air pollution.

However, individuals must be responsible for environmental protection. As the human population is increasing rapidly, we are producing ever greater quantities of waste. People can reduce waste by not using plastic bag and recycle as much as possible. For example, most supermarkets now provide reusable bags and storage containers for recycling glass, plastic and paper. Besides, individuals can participate in environmental protection campaigns. For instance, thousands of people give hands to clear garbage on beaches or grow more trees on streets.

In conclusion, I believe that individuals as well as politicians both have a significant responsibility for protecting the environment.
