00 00I have never been the favorite child in my family. I live with my mother and help her take care of things around the house. I am colored and not very bright. My name is Maggie and I have one sister. Her name is Dee. 02br

00Have you ever seen a person that always gets her way? Well, she is the one. Dee has always acted as if she were better than me. Whatever Dee wants, she gets. This behavior started when we were children. She always wanted nice things; when she graduated high school she wanted a new bright yellow dress. 00 00Dee gained the looks and the style over me when I was involved in an accident. About ten or twelve years ago, our house burnt down. My arms and legs were burnt and much of my hair. After the accident, I have never been the same. I do not feel as pretty as Dee. She has a sense of style that I could never overdue. 02br

00I often wonder “Does Dee hate me?” She has no reason too because she has many advantages over myself. I get very nervous around her. When she arrived at our new house we built, I wanted to avoid her. Mama would not let me. She did not say much to me but, she quickly wanted things that mama used or had been saving. I knew Dee would get what she wanted when she asked for the quilts that Grandma Dee had made. To my surprise, Mama said “No.” I knew mama had been saving those quilts for me when John Thomas and I marry. I was really looking forward to those quilts because I needed the use of them. Dee just wanted to hang them for decoration. She tried to convince Mama that I would not take care of them. Thankfully, Mama did not give them to her. 02br

00Dee was very surprised when she was not able to get what she wanted. After supper, she was not very happy and decided to leave. She told Mama that “she didn’t understand”. I don’t really know what there was to understand. As she left, she put on huge sunglasses and I just laughed. She always had a sense of style.0-
