Please Help Review My IELTS Writing Task 2?

Many people think there is a general increase in anti-social behaviour and a lack of respect for others. What do you think are the causes of this and how to improve it? What solutions can you suggest?

A school of thought holds that anti-social attitudes and disrespectful manners are increasingly common. In my opinion, this phenomenon stems from our prolonged exposure to violence and misdemeanors on the internet, and people’s too high self-esteem. However, there are certain measures to tackle this problem such as government intervention and parental guidance.

There are two main culprits behind the growing tendency for antisocial activities and demeaning manners. One of which is that people are excessively predisposed to morally unacceptable behaviors online. Undoubtedly, in today’s world, toxic contents are freely and consistently uploaded on social networking sites without appropriate intervention from authorities regarding content verification. As a result, many media users, especially mindless teenagers, watch such harmful videos or images and unconsciously adopt anti-social and disrespectful behavior. Moreover, it is people’s self-importance and self-center that contribute to this tendency. This is because when one achieves success too early, they are often overly proud of their achievements and gradually think more arrogantly. Consequently, such people tend to show scant regard for those who are less successful.

Nevertheless, possible solutions can be taken to erase this issue. First, the government should exercise more stringent content verification to ban posts that are mentally harmful. By doing this, the majority of such contents will be replaced by educational ones, which can help reshape users’ mindsets positively. Second, parental supervision also significantly helps stifle one’s egoism. Indubitably, parents are supposed to educate their children concerning morality at home. For example, they can deliver life lessons and give light punishments when their children behave unacceptably, thereby helping them become moral members of communities.

In conclusion, though there are many causes for the decline in proper attitudes and respect for other people namely frequent exposure to toxic contents and high-esteem, I maintain that steps such as strict authority media supervision and proper parental guidance could be taken to solve these issues.
