Please help me write a letter to a lost friend

Hi,

I'm trying to reestablish contact to someone I haven't seen or spoken or written to in over half a year. Now I want to write her a letter and I choose to do so in english. I think I'm generaly good enough to do so, but I wrote some phrase, that now sound wrong to me or at least not very aesthetic; and I'm afraid I have to put my best effort into this, if I want to hope for a positive reaction.

here some of those phrases:

"....you had easily been my favorite person in the world. Of course, we hadn't known each other for all that long and I'm not certain, if we had already been as close as friends as I liked to think. At the least I really wanted as to be close friends. Although we were bound to part was soon anyway "(shall mean, even if we wouldn't have had a fight)", I did hope we would forever stay in contact."

"You found me shortly after I realized just how deeply I plunged myself into that closing pit formed by my own damn misanthropy"

yeah, yeah, very dramatic, i know.

"....,because I like the person you turnt out to be. You seem to radiate this strong vibe of independence [ ]."

Now the second sentence here is supposed to be only a part of a longer one, but I cant think of anything. After hours of writing my mind is blank. Any suggestions?

"These sort of things don't just pass by me without leaving a mark."

I want to express here that something tragic she told me had a major effect on me

"..., but I fear you consider this just another big step of becoming strangers again"

I dont like this "becoming strangers again". I was looking more for a metapher or something.

Please help me if you can. I will probably come up with more phrases, so if you had fun helping me out, feel free to check this post again. Thanks
