Please Help Me With Writing Task 2

Some people say that advertising is extremely successful at persuading us to buy things. Other people think that advertising is so common that we no longer pay attention to it.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Here is my essay.

Nowadays, with the rapid development of communications and computing technology, advertisements appear everywhere and in variation of forms. I partly agree that advertising is extremely successful at persuading us to buy things. However, I find it is totally true with opinions that it is also so common that we no longer pay attention to it.

First, I will discuss the first opinion specifically about huge effects of advertising on persuading customers to buy things. I think it deepens on consumer behaviors as well. For those who buy things for the first time without much information about products, they tend to choose products which have been advertised the most. When standing in front of a range of products, the brand names of that products will spring up in customer’s mind first, then they are inclined to pick them. To some customers who are considered as being clever customers, they pay more attention on product quality more than how many times they appear on advertisements. Those will prefer to the products which have reliable high quality for a long time on the market.

I completely agree with the second opinion that it is also so common that we no longer pay attention to advertisements. When advertising first appeared, people may have been interested with it. But now, they appear everywhere, on televisions, websites, newspapers and so on, this even makes people bored and annoyed. For example, when watching videos on websites, people often find irritated at automatically popped-up advertisements, they just skip it to keep watching the rest of videos.

In conclusion, advertising is useful to persuade customers to buy things, but too much of it will cause opposite effect.
