Please help me with Writing Task 2

Some people think that it is good for a country’s culture to import foreign movies and TV programmes. Others think that it is better to produce these locally. Discuss both views and give your opinion. ?

There are different ideas about whether a country should use imported TV performances from other cultures or only domestic productions. While many people consider it is necessary to promote a local entertainment industry, I would argue that such imports make a valuable contribution to national culture.

On the one hand, importing international movies and TV programmes benefits the cultural life of a country in two important ways. From an educational perspective, the young can improve their English skills through entertainment shows like The Voice or TV series like Friends. Personally, I have learned a lot of different English accents and other cultures by watching a TV series called Sense8. From an entertainment perspective, international shows and films could be considered an effective way to travel. For example, for many students who may not have enough time and money, these sources are extremely helpful to sight-seeing and to know what is going on in the world.

On the other hand, local movies and TV programs can also benefit national culture. Firstly, youngsters have chances to enhance their knowledge about the place where they are living. For instance, in Vietnam, there are positive feedbacks from students on documentaries about how regional sweets, tea and coffee are made. Secondly, local TV programmes are more approachable when it comes to kid’s education. Children usually love to listen to the language and scenes which they are familiar with.

In conclusion, although local movies and TV programmes support a country’s spiritual life, it seems to me that international films and TV industries should be imported due to inevitable entertainment and educational advantages.
