Topic: The charts below show what UK graduate and post graduate students who did not go into full-time work did after leaving college in 2008.
The two bar charts give information about after-school employment orientation that graduates and postgraduates have in 2008 in the UK.
Regardless of ‘Part-time work’, after leaving universities, both groups seem to follow a same pattern in choosing what to do, representing through the similar ratio of graduates to postgraduates (10:1) in ‘Voluntary work’, ‘Further study’, and ‘Unemployment’ category.
As can be seen from the two charts, both groups responded favorably to furthering their study and unfavorably to doing voluntary work, with the number of respondents voting for the former nearly doubling that of the latter. Unemployed respondents were also recorded, with 16,235 graduates and 1,625 postgraduates leaving schools without landing a job.
There was a slight difference among two groups regarding the number of people involved in part-time work. Graduates did not show as much interest as postgraduates, with only around 28% of survey graduates (17,735) doing part-time job, as opposed to about 36% of survey postgraduates (2,535).
