The provided charts compare the outgoings of an average household in a country in 1950 and 2010

Overall, from the data obtained in the charts, it is clear that the spending habit of an average household drastically changed over the given period. Although housing had the highest proportion in 1950, food took the biggest share in 2010. Additionally, there was a considerable rise in the outlays for food, transportation, and healthcare, and other expenditures while education remained steady between 1950 and 2010.

In 1950, almost three quarters of household spending were for housing, and only 11.2% was for food, whereas transportation, education, healthcare and other expenditures accounted for more or less 5% each.

In terms of the household spending in 2010, the highest rate was for food with 34%. This was followed by housing with 22% and other expenditure with 19.2%. The figures for transportation, education and healthcare were 14%, 6.3% and 4.5% respectively.
