Multi-cultural countries, in which there is a mixture of different ethnic peoples, bring more benefits than drawbacks to a country. do you agree or disagree ?
People’s opinions differ as to whether cosmopolitan societies have more advantages than disadvantages or not. I completely disagree with this view because I believe that multi-cultural countries bring merits as many as demerits.
On the one hand, vibrant cultural countries are disadvantageous for two reasons. First of all, differences in cultures may cause misunderstandings as well as conflicts among people. This is because many people from foreign countries keep their old habits which may be inappropriate in other countries. For instance, British people do not look woman on the street while the French do. Hence if a French migrates to Britain, he may be thought to be rude or impolite. Secondly, multi-cultures may lead to the loss of traditional cultures. For instance, Vietnamese people tend to prefer celebrating Valentine’s Day or Christmas , which does not originate in Vietnam.
On the other hand, the mixture of different cultures gives people the chance to broaden their horizons. It is clear that local people can have a deeper understanding of different cultures as well as customs even though they do not go abroad. In addition, civic citizens can learn many eye-opener things, which are useful , such as how foreigners organize their schedules to work effectively. Moreover, well-trained people from different nations can take some intellectual positions contribute to the development of the country. For example, in Vietnam, many British people can have teaching posts in an English centre, which gives Vietnamese people opportunities to approach to the global language.
In conclusion, I disagree with the opinion that the merits of multi-cultural countries outweigh the demerits.
