Some teacher think that international student exchange would be beneficial for all teenage school students.
Do you think its advantages will outweigh the disadvantages ?
It is believed by some teachers that exchange programme would be a great deal for students at the age of teenager. Despite some obvious disadvantages of its, I would argue that these are outweighed by the advantages.
On the other hand, there are two main drawbacks when student attend an exchange programme. Firstly, taking an exchange programme means that students will have to face with culture shock and may lead to many distinct problems. For example, my fellow got an invitation to participate in an exchange programme in New Zealand. It was the worst memory of her, she was in a huge culture shock which made she coped with unfamiliar customs, different belief. Not only those things but she also had to deal with misunderstanding, tension and conflicts. All of those reasons had led her to mental crisis and her academic result went down unmanageably.
On the other hand, I believe that the merit more significant than such disadvantages. One reason for this view is that exchange students can meet different people in diverse nations around the world and learn various skills. Solving problems by themselves help them improve abilities and get a deeper insight into doubt that they meet. There is one major profit of studying overseas that we can not deny is students can become more independent. Life without parents’ daily support require everything has been done by themselves. For example, a overseas student have to learn to cook, to do housework, to manage budgets and also make their own decisions. Because of those difficulties, it makes students’ personality develops in a better way.
In conclusion, it seems to me that there are many advantages for attending in an exchanges programme although this may have some notable disadvantages.
