The line charts give information on the population distribution and the proportion of three different age groups all over the globe from 1950 to 2040.
Overall, it is predicted that the population in central areas and big cities will continue to climb; moreover, the number of people in the 15-60 age group is going to witness a major increase.
The percentage of citizens who live in urban areas saw almost no difference from that of suburb areas in the 50s and the 60s, which was around 9%. however, from the 70s, the figure surged and landed at nearly 20% in 2010. From that point, the figure goes up quickly and is predicted to reach a high of 38%, almost 8 times bigger than the proportion that rural regions are expected to hold in the year 2040. In contrast, rural populations remained steady at only 5% from 1950 to 2020, and the figure is expected to levelled at that point in the next 4 decade.
The age distribution indicates that the 15 to 65 age group will soon increase significantly, going from a small proportion of 5% to 35%. The other age groups, on the other hand, showed almost no signs of change and will continue to see a similar pattern of 5%.
