The graph shows the spending on books in four countries from 1995 to 2005
My essay:
The line graph compares the expenditure on books in Germany, France, Italy, and Austria over a 10-year period.
It clearly shows that the amount of money which was spent on books in all countries increased over the whole period. In addition, Germany was by far the highest figure throughout the 10-year period although the most significant increase was recorded in the spending on books by Austria.
In 1995, the proportion of money spent on books by the Germans was the highest, at exactly 80 million dollars, then it sharply increased at the range of 95 million dollars in 2005. Similarly, the yearly spending of French rose gradually from 55 to 75 million dollars in the same period.
At the beginning of the period, 50 million dollars were allocated for books in Italy, but it rose to over 60 million dollars in 2005. Meanwhile, Austria acounted for the lowest amount of money, with just 30 million dollars in 1995. This figure increased steadily to 40 million dollars in 1999, then remained unchanged until 2001 before overtaking that for Italy and reaching over 70 million dollars at the end of the period.
