Essay & Composition Writing

Please help me with this essay

School children are becoming far too dependent on computers. This is having an alarming effect on reading and writing skills. Teachers need to avoid using computers in the classroom at all costs and go back to teaching basic study skills.

My essay is below:

These days, thanks to advances in technology our children can be accessible to the computer more conveniently than ever before. Therefore, computers have played a significant role in many aspects of our life and education is not an exception. Some people think that children are becoming far too dependent on computers and this has an unfavorable effect on their reading and writing abilities as a result.

There are also advantages using computers can help children to study. Firstly, because videos and documents can be saved to their computers, they can study and review them again and again. Secondly, they can broaden their knowledge with computers which are accessible to the internet, having said that, the students can gain not only their horizon from inside but also outside school.

In contrast, there are disadvantages when school children use computers too frequently. By writing on Microsoft Word, it can automatically check spelling word, so their writing skill become worse over the times. For example, they can not write on real paper with the pen as sufficiently as their peer who are not dependent on computers. Consequently, they will not be eligible to work in areas which inquire good writing skill in the future. Using computer too much will decrease their reading and comprehending abilities, because they do not feel familiar with books which they have to use if they want to gain knowledge from them.

To conclude, I agree with this idea that teachers need to avoid using computers as much as they can in the classroom and attempt the best to use traditional ways to teach students.

Thank you.
