Essay & Composition Writing

Please help me with this essay

I'm supposed to write this essay: "What are the most important things in your life?" in 300 words. Well, this question sounds rather simple and familiar, but when I started to write I found it really difficult. "the most important things"- I think it's very general. In fact, I thought that I might write about my study, my family, my social bonds, some of my hobbies like music or sports.....But I think such things are neither special nor impressive. I'm afraid if I write about them I will make the teacher feel bored. Moreover, how can I manage all of those "important things" in just 300 words?
If you were me, what would you write? If you have any idea or suggestion, please tell me. Thanks in advance

Hi Sherry, I encourage you to register, though you don't need to. 300 words is a very small essay, only an opening and closing paragraph with two or three short paragraphs sandwiched in between. If I were given your task, I would choose three things that part of a theme.

  • That way, I could easily summarize them.
  • When I summarized them, I could say how they were complimentary and how I have learned from them.

Hi MountainHiker, this is Sherry. I have registered to be a member of your forum. Thanks for your advice, it's really useful for me. To be honest, what I consider most important in my life are: family, love, and job. However, it would be so greedy to cramp all these 3 things into a 300-word essay. So I think I will choose 'family' only, but I will divide it into 2 parts: my current family and my

Hi Sherry,

Your writing looks okay, so I don't believe you have much to worry about.

As far as the length of your essay is concerned, I can't help you there. You might write a novel that rivals the length of War and Peace concerning your family--I don't know.

If it were me, I might choose a couple aspects of your current family you want to keep in your futu

Hi MountainHiker! This is me again. Just wanna tell you that I have finished my essay. Well, I finally decided to write about my family and my friends. I think it sounds not too bad. I really want to post it here, but there are some points so personal, so I can't. Thank you anyway for showing that you care.
I will visit this forum more often, sure. This is such a good place to improve my wri

Sherry,

We look forward to seeing you here Sherry. Just as a hint, you might want to consider toning down your personal stuff. Sometimes it is good not to let the teacher know too much about your pesonal life. Or you can take the opposite tact, just make things up. This is writing after all, not a confessional.
